EquiSal Tapeworm Test
The EquiSal Tapeworm Test is an innovative saliva-based test that shows whether your horse or donkey has a harmful tapeworm infection. The kit contains everything you need to collect and send a saliva sample. Based on the results, you will receive a tailored treatment recommendation from us.
The EquiSal Tapeworm Test detects tapeworms through the animal’s immune response. If tapeworms are present, the immune system produces highly specific antibodies against tapeworm in the saliva. The EquiSal Test detects these antibodies. There is a direct link between the amount of antibodies in the saliva and the number of tapeworms present.
The EquiSal Tapeworm Test measures the level of specific antibodies against tapeworms. The test consists of three components (the so-called ELISAs), which correct for the saliva production and diet of the horse or donkey.
The price you pay excludes shipping costs, analysis of the EquiSal Test, and a personal treatment recommendation.
Note: This product excludes return postage to the laboratory. You must add postage yourself.
Additional notes – EquiSal Tapeworm Test
If your horse or donkey has recently been treated for tapeworm, the test can only be performed 4 months after treatment.
The EquiSal Tapeworm Test only checks for tapeworms. For other parasites, fecal test kits can be ordered in our webshop.
The result of the EquiSal Test takes 14 days, as the laboratory is located in the UK.
