Fecal testing in dogs

Only deworm when necessary

FECAL TESTING AT WORM&CO

Worm&Co is the company specialized in fecal testing for dogs. Studies have shown that many animals are dewormed unnecessarily. This is harmful to your dog’s health and accelerates the development of worm resistance. To prevent resistance, it is important to perform fecal testing before deworming.

Why fecal testing?

In addition to being harmful to your dog, a worm infection can also be transmitted from dogs to humans. That is why it is especially important to have a fecal examination carried out frequently (4 times a year). This way, you build up a clear record, giving you valuable insight into your dog’s susceptibility to worms. It also provides good monitoring of your worm management. On this page, you will find tips to keep your worm management optimal and learn how to prevent infections.

If the fecal examination shows that your dog is infected with worms, we will provide you with personalized treatment advice. If it is advisable to treat your dog, we can send you an effective worming treatment. The recommendation is to send in another fecal sample 14 days after administering the worming treatment, so we can check whether the treatment has worked and that no resistance has developed. You will always receive a reminder for re-examination.

The result can also be easily viewed on the account page of our website!

Additional risk

Dogs that eat feces, hunt, or live in kennels have an increased risk of worm infections. Also, dogs that often spend time in larger groups, such as in dog parks or boarding facilities, are more likely to become infected. If your dog belongs to one of these risk groups, it is recommended to send fecal samples more frequently for testing to keep worm management under control.

Working preventively

Prevention is better than cure. To reduce the chance of your dog becoming infected, there are a few things you can do yourself.

  • Clean up your dog’s feces immediately.
  • Keep your dog’s environment hygienic.
  • Have your dog’s feces tested frequently (4 times a year) to detect and treat worm infections early.
  • If your dog has frequent contact with wild animals, it is advisable to increase the frequency of fecal testing.
  • Prevent and treat fleas on your dog to avoid worm infections transmitted by fleas.
  • Maintain personal hygiene to keep the risk of infection as low as possible.
