Puppy Package – including return postage

If you want optimal worm management for your puppy, this is the ideal package. The puppy package contains enough fecal tests to maintain proper worm management during your pup’s first year of life. With each result, you will receive a tailored treatment recommendation from us.

What’s included in the package?
The package contains 4 fecal tests and 2 Giardia tests, which can be sent according to the following schedule once your puppy is at home:

  • 3 months of age: Fecal test including Giardia
  • 4 months of age: Fecal test
  • 5 months of age: Fecal test
  • 6 months of age: Fecal test
  • 9 months of age: Fecal test including Giardia
  • 12 months of age: Fecal test

All fecal samples are tested for roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, tapeworms, and coccidia. In the Giardia tests, we additionally check for Giardia.

The price includes shipping, analysis of the fecal samples, return postage to the laboratory, and a personal treatment recommendation.

Worm infections in puppies
Every puppy is infected with roundworms in the womb. At birth, the pup already carries roundworms in its body. Mother’s milk also contains roundworm larvae. Older puppies and adult dogs are infected with roundworms and other worms by ingesting microscopic larvae from the environment. Most breeders deworm puppies at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks of age. Once your puppy is at home, you can switch to fecal testing.

Puppies also have a higher risk of Giardia infection, which is why we recommend two Giardia tests per year. Once your pup reaches one year of age, you can follow the regular worm testing schedule.

Additional notes – Puppy Package

Fecal testing is carried out using the sedimentation-flotation technique; for Giardia, an antigen test is used.

This test is less suitable for French heartworm; for this parasite, the Baermann method is used.
